Job Description
About the Role
At thredUP, we're revolutionizing the clothing industry, and we're looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to join our Data Engineering team. We have web clickstream data, e-commerce data, email data, CRM data, logs, and more.
Our experienced Data Engineering team builds distributed components, tools, and systems that power decisions at thredUP. You'll work closely with different business teams such as Marketing, Product, Data science to create effective Data products. You would get an opportunity to deliver the entire product from start from finish. i.e. Requirements gathering to design and implementation of a product. You would get an opportunity to work on different Big data technologies such as Spark, Kinesis streaming, Kafka etc via different use cases we currently have. There would be opportunities to build services ranging from core data pipelines to big data to machine learning.
In This Role You'll Get To:
Responsible for designing and implementing data and analytics infrastructure and systems, including website data, transactional data, e-commerce data, email data, and CRM data. Create an organized data warehouse and provide teams with enhanced data visibility. Fully automate manual reporting and tasks using backend coding and data modeling. Work closely with business verticals to build data infrastructure per business requirements. Partner with business intelligence teams to build scalable and efficient big data pipelines utilizing technologies such as Amazon EMR and Spark. Create Business Intelligence models and Data marts for data discovery and analysis using the company’s Business Intelligence tool. Create ETL packages using ETL tools and custom coding. Responsible for designing and optimizing queries to ensure fast response times and low database load. Enhance monitoring and alerting standards within the company’s data infrastructure. Assist with high-level product initiatives by acting as a key data point of contact. Receive ad hoc and unscheduled requests and effectively prioritize between long-term projects and immediate team needs. Manage data storage infrastructure utilizing various technologies, including Redshift, SQL, and other Big Data technologies.
What We're Looking For:
Requires, at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field plus six (6) years of experience designing and implementing data systems.
Must have experience with: SQL Query Optimization and Advanced SQL Design patterns; Data Warehousing; Data Modeling to design and implement data systems; Developing Spark ETL pipelines for existing and new software applications. Telecommuting position with no geographic limitation as long as worker is based in the contiguous U.S. Report to Oakland, CA office. #LI-DNI
At thredUP, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $199,098 and $232,000, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Many thredUP employees also have the opportunity to own shares of thredUP stock. thredUP employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, as well as a discount when purchasing thredUP stock if voluntarily participating in thredUP’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Subject to eligibility requirements, you’ll also receive other benefits: Comprehensive medical & dental coverage, vision, 401k, life and disability insurance.
