Job description
Infosys is seeking a WLAN Engineer with strong technical troubleshooting ability and provide services for client network. This is an advanced practice position in the Network & Voice Managed Services group. Wireless LAN and Network Engineers continuously improve the architecture and operations of the wireless LAN as well as providing expertise in general routing and switching. The WLAN and Network Engineer will draft and review operating procedures, review incoming tickets and either resolve them remote remotely or dispatch them to field operations, and perform complex troubleshooting. The work takes place in a professional office environment.

Required Qualifications:
  • Candidate can work from anywhere within the U.S. This position may require travelling.
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
  • At least 4 years of Information Technology experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Wireless Networking
  • Experience in Cisco Wireless LAN Controller, Access Points, Cisco Identity Services Engine
  • Able to translate throughput and performance requirements into signal levels and coverage requirements.
  • Able to use industry software to plot predicted heat maps, make baseline heat maps, produce in-service heat maps, and compare them.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledgeable in the fundamentals of RF propagation, attenuation, and planning
  • Knowledgeable on 802.1x and WLAN security
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of coworkers including technical and non-technical, entry level to senior executive.
  • Must be able to think analytically and use process of elimination to disprove potential causes of trouble conditions.
  • Clear and easily understood verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently using standard practices and procedures.
  • Experience and desire to work in a management consulting environment that requires 20% travel (driving to local client sites)
  • Planning and Co-ordination skills

Job Responsibilities:
  • Install and troubleshoot Cisco wireless Networks, Wireless Controllers, Access Points, Network Access Control systems, Wireless Network Management tools
  • Evaluating the performance of higher layers of various types of wireless networks
  • Use monitoring tools, protocol analyzers and cable testers to troubleshoot, diagnose and identify failing/failed networking components
  • Resolving Incidents (INCs) and Service Requests (SRs)
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures for routine tasks.
  • Follow through on commitments to end users and coworkers.
  • Be active in product-specific forums and communities, well versed in Cisco TAC procedures, and knowledgeable about Cisco’s documentation library.
  • Involvement in Project work with self-manage discipline and pro-actively communicate potential jeopardy situations.
  • Familiar with ITIL standards not limited to problem management and change management.

The job entails sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods of time. Should be able to communicate by telephone, email or face to face.
