Job Summary:
The Vice President of Operations will plan, direct, coordinate, and virtually oversee operations activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization. The VP of Operations is responsible for ensuring high staff and customer retention, and overall growth of the organization. The expectation of the role includes attaining goals while maintaining and upholding the core values of the company.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train management-level staff in the organization.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and evaluate results.
- In collaboration with Human Resources, instill a “coaching” culture within the company; enhance training, development, employee relations, performance evaluation, recruiting, and retention.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establish, implement, and communicate the strategic direction of the organization’s operations.
- Implement and lead a continuous quality improvement process throughout the program and service areas, focusing on systems and process improvement.
- Promote regular and ongoing opportunities for all staff and clients to give feedback on company operations.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects and systems.
- Collaborate with other departments to carry out the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources.
- Ensure that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, efficiency, customer service, support the organization’s business plan and vision.
- Establish, communicate, and implement operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
- Review and approve cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects.
- Participate in the ongoing strategic planning process as an integral member of the senior management team.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate company short-term and long-term operational performance.
- Confirm key messages are properly and consistently disseminated across the organization.
- Ensure a high level of effective communication exists throughout the organization.
- Establish and administer the Operations budget.
- Present periodic performance reports and metrics to the company president and other leadership.
- Assure all projects executed by field staff incorporate project planning techniques prescribed by management. Provide appropriate input and review as required.
- Responsible for account management, new client onboarding, business development, and overall client relations.
- Direct timely and accurate deliverables of bid operations department, including RFP/RFI responses, scope of work determinants, and hourly rate calculations via data-driven bid processes.
- Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, and procedures including development and management of reporting capabilities.
- Manage topline growth and cost optimization practices through action planning, based on data-driven metrics, such as KPIs.
- In collaboration with the leadership and IT teams, assist in improving the ERP system (Cruxos) to maximize project execution and data collection.
- Direct the activities of assigned departments through subordinate managers and supervisors; selects staff and evaluates performance; reviews and takes appropriate action on disciplinary matters.
- Identify process optimization and cost reduction opportunities in collaboration with finance and sales.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or other industry-related field required; MBA preferred.
- At least 8 years of retail or construction industry-related experience including three years in upper management required.
- Successful experience with virtual oversight of multiple projects operating across the US simultaneously.
- Experience leading diverse, generally blue-collar work teams, developing an organization-wide strategy for program excellence.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Travel Requirements
- Travel required approximately 25% of the time.
