Job Summary


Join our collaborative Human Resources team at MDH! We offer flexible start/end times and a family friendly environment. Working as a Technical and Administrative Support Services - Human Resources Technician 2 you will:

  • Prepare and enter payroll for time entry, evaluate payroll related changes, process payments, and review reports.
  • Provide administrative and technical assistance in the form of various employment records such as personnel reports/data for routine maintenance of employment data, data requests, verification of employment and employment history.
  • Create, update, and maintain checklists to assist supervisors in the processes for bringing new employees on board.
  • Develop, administer, and maintain programs relating to employee engagement practices.
  • Communicate employee benefits and programs to staff so they make timely and informed decisions on benefits available to them.

This posting will be used to fill multiple positions.

Positions are open to 100% telework eligible for applicants who reside in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota or South Dakota, with the option to office onsite if preferred.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • One (1) year of relevant experience* that includes administrative support or customer service and data entry/computer use.
      • Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field may substitute for six months of experience
      • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Experience must demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, which will be further assessed during the interview process:

  • Strong human relations skills to work constructively with other employees, customers, and government agencies to build effective relationships.
  • Ability to input and access data into human resource systems to process employment transactions and assist with management of personnel records.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills sufficient to present ideas, explain complex and technical information in a manner which can be easily understood by the public and to communicate effectively with professionals.
  • Organizational skills sufficient to prepare and maintain files in a logical fashion and appropriately prioritize work assignments and manage competing priorities in an often, fast paced environment.
  • Ability to calculate and/or verify pay and enter payroll related transactions into human resource systems.
  • Ability to follow Human Resources processes and all applicable state and federal employment laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply collective bargaining agreement or company handbook provisions, and use as a tool to perform duties and make decisions independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a Human Resources office.
  • Experience managing private data or protected health information.
  • Experience with State of Minnesota human resources systems, policies, systems, laws, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements and plans.
  • Experience providing executive-level support.
