Fulltime and Parttime Substitutes Wanted!!

Pace is seeking Summer Only Teachers and Substitutes for full-time or part-time positions. This is a great opportunity to make extra income over the summer while truly impacting a student’s life through your support in their academic goals.

Pace is a year-round academic and counseling program seeking Summer Substitute Teachers to support our students who are working hard toward growth and change. Pace has (2) month-long summer sessions (June to July & July to August) that allow our students to continue with credit recovery, course remediation, or working ahead while still receiving the support services and counseling needed to continue the growth and change they’ve made throughout the school year.

In addition to a small classroom setting (14:1), cell phone use is not allowed by students and there is little to no homework intentionally assigned which makes teaching at Pace much more impactful.

As a Substitute you may cover seat time curriculum or online courses such as Apex Recovery or e-School enhancement courses. Substitutes may be assigned to a computer lab assisting students with their online courses. Some substitutes will have the option to participate in care review meetings with the center team to discuss individual student progress. You may also encounter opportunities for engagement in student activities, Growth and Change ceremonies, fun field trips, and center-wide activities.

Substitutes that join Pace over the summer may be considered for long-term teaching or substitutes positions if interested.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Required

• Associates degree or meets the education level of the district’s requirements.

• Attains and/or maintains certification and endorsements by required deadlines.

• Valid Florida ID or Florida Driver’s License.

• Knowledge of laws relating to children and families.

Preferred

• Current Florida State Teacher’s Certification.

• Education degree.

• Minimum one-year teaching experience.

• Teaching experience in an at-risk youth environment.

• Knowledge of state and school districts policies

Roles and Responsibilities

Curriculum and Instruction

• Adhere to and deliver instructions and lessons provided by the Classroom Teacher in their absence

• Knows how to design and align instruction according to state standards

• Uses formal and informal assessment to monitor progress and plan instruction to meet girls’ individual needs

• Plans for effective classroom instruction by utilizing innovative, appropriate, and differentiated instructional techniques and strategies

• Creates a safe and trusting classroom environment that is gender responsive, trauma informed and strength-based

• Maintains appropriate standards of behavior to support an environment that is conducive for learning

Progress Monitoring and Outcomes Measurement

• Promotes confidence, perseverance and responsibility in the students for their achievement of personal academic goals

• Is knowledgeable about state of Florida graduation requirements and promotes college readiness

• Must adhere to the Pace Center for Girls Values and Guiding Principles and upholds the ethical standards of the Agency

• Follows mission, values and principles, policies and procedures of the Pace Center for Girls

• Availability to work evenings and weekends as required to fulfill workload requirements

• Must be able to travel by automobile, plane, train, etc.; occasional overnight travel may be required
