Job Summary


This position will support the office of International Education and Admissions and Records, with an emphasis on coordinating support for International students. This position will be responsible for working with students to ensure admission requirements, as well as compliance are adhered to, as well as connecting students to numerous support systems (both internally and externally) to help be successful. This person would be responsible for understanding and knowing the policies and procedures related to International Education.

Essential Functions


30% - Serves as the primary contact for prospective international students from the point of the first contact to enrollment. Coordinates admissions processing for international students, especially students with F-1 visa status. Acts as a primary liaison for students to connect students with campus resources, as well as resources related to international education. Helps support the office in meeting all rules and regulations outlined by regulation, policy, and governmental agencies. Establishes and maintains relationships with governmental agencies, external and internal partners, as well as faculty and staff at Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) to support student success and retention.

20% - Processes immigration documents and immigration applications for international students. Communicate with federal agencies regarding immigration benefits for international students. Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for F-1 international students. Maintains and updates SEVIS records maintenance to ensure federal compliance for both the college and student population.

20% - Coordinates the international student orientation and assists academic advisors and faculty with ensuring international students meet the academic requirements of their visa. Coordinates the international student insurance, assists with on-campus employment, and works with college staff to provide resources to the international student to ensure a well-rounded experience with effective cultural adjustment and academic success. Helps connect and organize student activities and events both at a college level as well as our District wide events.

20% - Provides support to overall functions of Recruitment, Welcome Desk, and Admissions & Records Department where needed; actively supports the critical priorities of the International Education Program. Maintains files and records that are necessary for audit purposes. Gather data related to our international student population.

10% - Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) full-time equivalent years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

OR

High School Diploma or GED and four (4) full-time equivalent years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in public or business administration, education or related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in higher education environment
  • Experience working with international student programs or services and have knowledge of U.S. immigration regulations related to students in various visa categories, primarily F-1
  • Experience with admission or enrollment management
  • Experience living, working, or studying abroad
  • Experience using Student Information Systems (i.e., Peoplesoft, Banner, etc.) and Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS)

Special Working Conditions

  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving: https://www.maricopa.edu/about/careers/application-information#mvd
  • May be required to work evenings and/or weekend on occassions
