Job Summary:
Omar D. Blair is currently seeking Special Education Teachers to serve in our Elementary and Middle School Communities.The Special Education Teacherworksin collaboration with the General Education Teacher toinstruct and support scholars with IEPs in academic settings by providing a continuum of services from self-contained instruction to full inclusion in the regular classroom. . Responsibilities include providing instruction to scholars based on individual goals through push in and small groups as well as one-on-one, with practice opportunities, re-teaching, and monitoring behavior. Special Education Teachers also serve as Case Managersto lead IEP assessment, evaluation and meetings on an annual basis. The SPED Teachers will promote an atmosphere of safety which ensures mutual respect between scholars, families and staff members.The SPED Teachers will be responsible for recording and reporting each child’s progress to their family and the school’s administration along with being able to manage personal and common planning, data meetings, and professional development.

Required Qualifications:
- Valid Colorado Special Education Teaching License.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education.
- Ability to provide official education transcripts and a passing score on the Praxis Exam.
- Knowledge of social emotional needs of young children.
- Observe all rules and regulations of Omar D. Blair Charter School and the local, state and national regulatory agencies pertaining to the education, health, safety and care of children.
- Strong personal commitment to the education of young children, including the ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of our community.
- Ability to provide personal and professional references.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consistently complete progress monitoring and create quarterly progress reports.
- Monitor, follow and create Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Follow all policies and protocols to meet compliance guidelines and deadlines for IEP evaluations.
- Schedule and facilitate IEP re-evaluation and annual meetings, as well as scholar transition meetings.
- Conduct various assessments to collect data for annual IEPs and re-evaluations.
- Plan and deliver instruction in small group and one-on-one environments.
- Directly instruct mild-moderate scholars in push in and pull out environments.
- Create lesson plans to address scholar goals.
- Differentiate instruction for scholars based on cultural, linguistic or disability needs.
- Complete progress monitoring and analyze scholar data on a consistent basis.
- Embed opportunities for scholar speaking, writing, critical thinking and peer engagement.
- Participate as an active member with the MTSS Team.
- Communicate and collaborate with Health service professionals, the School Mental Team, psychologists, DPS service providers, and other supporting agencies.
- Analyze formal and informal data and accurately complete student data assessment analysis and provide informative reports regarding student instruction and achievement, using appropriate screeners.
- Develop and maintain open and consistent communication with scholars and their families about their academic progress, health success and needs, parenting success and needs, individual power plans, and continuing education.
- Attend meetings (including staff, IEP and 504 meetings), serve on committees, and in-service professional development activities.
- Be receptive and engaged with coaching while modeling high standards of professionalism in all areas of the job.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge and demonstration of using innovative skills in instruction (analytical thinking, problem solving, communicating, collaborating, and finding and evaluating information).
- Ability to demonstrate high levels of organization, be accountable, reliable and manage time effectively while using Google Suite.
- Provide a safe, nurturing environment that is developmentally stimulating while assessing scholars’’ developmental needs.
- Support innovative thinking, problem-solving and teaching practices.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Communicate with scholars, parents, and colleagues with respect and dignity.
- Uses team concepts to plan, problem solve, and share space, resources, and knowledge with coworkers; supports the ideas, efforts, and accomplishments of others.
- Recognizes opportunities for improvements, adapts to changes in responsibilities with a positive attitude.
- Maintains consistent, regular attendance at work and follow the school’s procedures for absence reporting.
