We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and highly motivated Senior Staff Accountant to join our Accounting Team!
This role will be responsible for maintaining proper accounting processes and controls for Freedom Boat Club corporate entities. This position will work closely with the Assistant Controller and other members of the Accounting Team to ensure that the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting processes are completed in a timely manner per GAAP requirements. This role will be responsible for assisting with month-end close journal entries and reporting including accounts reconciliation, income statement variances and actual trending analyses.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the Freedom Boat Club and Franchise entity ledgers and support business unit management by providing financial statements and performing monthly analyses
- Assist with month-end close and prepare general ledger journal entries
- Work closely with member accounting to ensure revenue is recorded accurately
- Responsible for the reconciliation and preparation of general ledger journal entries of the daily cash entries on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Record and manage payments received from our franchise operations
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations including reconciliation of bank/cash accounts
- Review and reconcile revenue and non-revenue related receivables and payables
- Prepare commission reports on a bi-weekly basis
- Complete ad-hoc analysis and reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual results, business performance and SG&A drivers
- Analyze and summarize financial results
- Identify opportunities to automate or redesign processes to support overall Freedom Accounting initiatives
- Performs variance and trend analysis of actual results vs. forecast and prior months
- Provide timely resolution to any issues surfaced during or after close
Skills / Experience Required:
- 4+ years of accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks and exposure to enterprise accounting systems (ie: Oracle)
- Self-starter with strong organization, project management, and communication skills
- Capable of multi-tasking and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work well across all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must have a team player attitude
- Strong customer service orientation
