Primary Role - Sr. Process/ Composites Engineer:

The Senior Process Engineer will lead process efficiencies and composites designs across Latham’s nine North American Fiberglass plants. The role will be focused lamination composites design on new and existing products while working with Sales and Marketing on product innovations. They will also create BOM for new product and work with Latham Laboratory on material qualifications and testing. The role will work cross functionally with Quality, Warranty, and manufacturing technicians to develop best practices at production sites, while creating SOPs for new process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and develop laminate design for new product and innovations
• Conduct FEA on new and existing products
• Create training programs, including working with internal and external resources (ACMA Certified Composite Techs)
• Generate process improvement programs to meet productivity targets for labor and material
• Work closely with Quality to ensure process improvements are realized and quality issues are assessed methodically from in terms of engineering and design.
• Perform Process Evaluations for New Product Introductions as part of Toll Gate approval process
• Define and maintain detailed process specifications for qualification of new raw materials
• Research and development of new equipment and materials (this can include design responsibilities)
• Completion of documentation to show and ensure compliance with both internal and external regulations and protocols
• Assisting Process Technicians in troubleshooting in the event of a problem
• Responsible for data collection, interpretation and report writing
• Presentation of data and reports to senior colleagues and management
• Responsibility for the evaluation / installation of new equipment for testing or production
• Continual evaluation of equipment and processes to ensure both efficiency and quality remain high
• Observe all company safety rules and serve as a “Champion” of corporate safety initiatives and culture
• Facilitate/support structured problem solving activities, ensuring root-cause identification is databased and corrective actions are validated and controlled
• Escalate design opportunities to corporate leadership
• Facilitate/support the development of the annual BU process design project roadmap and participate on project teams as appropriate
• Team with the Vice President, Operations & Plant Managers to ensure all site processes are maintained uniformly across all facilities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bilingual (Spanish and English)
• Knowledge in SOILDWORKS and running FEAs
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. Equivalent related experience may be substituted for degree
• 4 years of related experience
• Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel (including spreadsheets/databases).
• Up to 25% overnight travel can be expected
