JOB DESCRIPTION – SENIOR LOAN PROCESSOR

Supervisor – Operations Officer

Classification – Full-time

Status – Non-Exempt

Department – Loan

JOB SUMMARY

Provides the highest level of internal and external customer service while maintaining established lending processes and procedures. Provides full-service processing for all types of loans including pre-closing functions, loan document preparation, post-closing functions, and ongoing exception tracking responsibilities.

Provides key regulatory compliance support as well as support to other lending systems such as the Bank’s core system, the loan documentation system, the exception tracking system. Communicates with customers throughout the lending process and is an integral part of ongoing cross-selling and referral opportunities.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Loans

  • Daily balancing of the loan GLs.
  • Processing unposted loan tickets.
  • Reviewing daily/weekly/monthly reports for an anomalies or adjustments to be made.
  • Design and pull reports from the core utilized for board, audits, exams, loan committee, etc.
  • Board loans on core system ensuring that the loan is booked exactly as loan documents were produced by utilizing Loan Processing Worksheets.
  • Prepare for end-of-year notices to generate by reviewing reports and balancing at end-of-year.
  • Review all loan documents and system on boarded loans done by other loan processor(s).
  • Assist with loan-related policies.
  • Assist with loan audits and exams.
  • Respond via eOSCAR to credit report correction requests submitted by the borrower.
  • Record documents (mortgage, deed, trade names, etc.) on Iowa Land Records E-Submission.
  • Utilize tracking systems to track all outstanding documentation (titles, loan opinions, insurance, etc.).
  • Generate letters and automated emails from the tracking system to send to customers requesting outstanding documentation.
  • Review report for blanket insurance premiums and remit payment.
  • Post loan payments for specific loan types and maintain complex spreadsheet.
  • Monitor sold participation loans for activity and remit payment or request advances to/from participating banks.
  • Review all incoming insurance notifications.
  • Post loan advance requests for operating lines and construction lines.
  • Review transactions daily to ensure that payments, advances, etc. were posted correctly – reverse late fees and back-date payments as needed.
  • Prepare checks, wires, and other funding methods to complete loan closing process while completing and maintaining proper documentation.
  • Create, organize, and maintain original loan document files required to be retained during and subsequent to the life of a loan.
  • Scan, index, and file all new loan documents, financials, collateral documents, etc.
  • Prepare payoff statements and letters of guaranty.
  • Review closed loan report, circulate to loan officers, and release all collateral that needs to be released & update on core system.
  • Tear down paid off files and responsible for complying with established loan documentation retention processes.
  • Administer escrow analysis; disburse insurance premiums that are due on escrow accounts; disburse and remit all property taxes for escrow accounts.
  • Track officers’ credit life licenses; report officer/bank credit life, mortgage life, and term life commissions.
  • Update spreadsheet and online remittance for SBA servicing and remit payment.
  • Circulate loan payment/past due notices around to loan officers.
  • Change interest rates in core and lending systems.
  • Review files for pledging loan collateral to FHLB.
  • Complete all maintenance to loans on core system.
  • Facilitate education on processing loan payments and requests made through the teller line.

Miscellaneous

  • Assist in correlating/preparing reports for Board Books.
  • Assist with trust administration duties as needed.
  • Run OFAC/IDV/Qualifile/Red Flags reports for all new customers.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide back-up to Loan Processor(s) in their absence.
  • Complete all training as required for compliance and position skills enhancement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

PROFICIENCIES

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in person and over the phone.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals and groups; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organizational, problem-prevention, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of banking rules, regulations, laws, and all policies and procedures pertaining to them.
  • General understanding of bank core processing systems.
  • Ability to endure frequent interruptions while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality with all sensitive information obtained.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher required.
  • 3-5 years loan processing experience required.
  • Must have acceptable credit report scores and background check.
