Orange County Utilities provides water resources and solid waste recovery services to protect and enrich the lives of the citizens and guests of Orange County Florida. The Solid Waste Division oversees the contract for curbside collection of garbage, yard waste, and recyclable materials for over 230,000 homes in Orange County, and the operation and maintenance of the Orange County Landfill, two transfer stations, and recycling processing operations. The landfill is the largest publicly owned and operated landfill in the state of Florida.

The Solid Waste Division is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Operations Specialist. This position is an integral part of the Solid Waste operations at the landfill and transfer stations and responsible for coordinating activities performed by the work unit, scheduling work activities to maintain facilities in efficient operating conditions, reviewing work performed by a variety of trades, and responds to emergency situations to correct operating problems in a timely fashion. Work requires independent judgment under general supervision of a designated supervisor.

• Supervising staff and assigning duties in compliance with local, state, and federal permitting authorities.
• Monitoring productivity, directing work, preparing evaluations and corrective actions.
• Coordinating work with other supervisors at the Landfill and Transfer Station.
• Performs tasks in a variety of conditions including adverse weather and environmental odors.
• Perform other related work as required

• Graduation from high school or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in transfer station operation, logistics, and/or solid waste.
• Must possess and maintain a Commercial Driver's License Class "A" with Tanker endorsement upon hire or promotion. (If you have a CDL, please put it in job duties on your application)
• Must obtain a Florida State Transfer Station license within six (6) months of hire.
