Job Summary and Qualifications
The SPD Manager provides leadership through planning organizing, monitoring and evaluating the SPD Departments service level to all areas of the hospital. Responsibilities include fiscal, Human Resource and operational functions. The SPD Manager maintains 24-hour accountability for services provided by the SPD department. The manager performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at The Medical Center of Aurora. The Manager displays a positive support for the values and mission at TMCA. The SPD Manager is responsible for the overall quality of all functions of the Sterile Processing Department including each surgical services area instrument – both decontamination and the clean room. This includes quality of decontamination, quality and accuracy of re-setting of all instrument sets for all departments including all procedures trays/instrument sets used in the hospital. The SPD Manager will provide customer service directly to physicians and interface with them to address quality issues with instrument sets.
What qualifications you will need:
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Current certification in sterile processing.
B. Education:
Graduation from an Accredited High School or GED. Central Service Certification. Completion of surgical tech training at an accredited school or appropriate job experience preferred.
C. Experience:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Sterile Processing or the Operating Room required.
D. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrates understanding of Health Care from an organizational system perspective. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the processes required in an SPD. . Demonstrates the ability to plan and provide for the delivery of all SPD services. Ability to communicate with Dept. Managers and staff to maintain constructive relationships. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Participates in counseling and guidance of personnel as well as probationary and annual evaluations.
