Job Summary

This individual performs unskilled and semi-skilled work under direct and indirect supervision in the Maintenance section. Assists in the installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical, piping and structural equipment for the purpose of becoming a Journeyman Power Plant Maintenanceperson.

• Assists in setting up and operating machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, etc. and machining metals and parts to original tolerances.
• Assists in arc and gas cuts of steel and nonferrous alloys, arc and gas welding, brazing, and silver solders steel and non ferrous alloys.
• Assists in performing operational or overhaul maintenance on power plant equipment such as broilers, furnaces, turbines, internal combustion engines, fuel handling systems, safety devices, sootblowers, fans, heaters, pumps, compressors, tank, etc.

• Must have a High School Diploma or passed a high school equivalency exam
• Preference will be given to candidates that can demonstrate prior experience in the maintenance / mechanic field
• Must pass differential aptitude tests and other job related tests as deemed necessary by the company
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid State of Hawaii driver's license
