The Firewall Engineer is responsible for the operations and management of the IT/OT infrastructure at RWE Clean Energy (RWECE). This position will report directly to the Senior Manager of Information Technology,

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and management of telecommunications, network
  • Design, development, implementation, and monitoring of solutions and processes to ensure a robust, stable, and secured Network environment
  • Responsible for ensuring that networks have maximum up time, providing fast and reliable connections for employees to get their work done promptly
  • Provide oversight for consultants and engage in the professional development of staff and hiring, while maintaining effective relationships with staff, colleagues, business users and vendors built on transparency, inclusion, and trust
  • Implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related subject required. Relevant certification plus equivalent experience can substitute.
  • Minimum 5+ years' related work experience required
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Good understanding of cyber security hygiene, detection and monitoring tools and compliance requirements
  • Advanced understanding of CISCO and/or Fortinet technology or comparable next-generation firewall technology
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., SNMP, IPSEC, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Proven hands-on network engineering experience
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • An understanding of the NERC CIP framework and experience with facilitating audit exercises such as tabletop drills, NERC, and SOX audits
  • Experience with IT/OT ecosystem and SCADA preferred
  • Good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to analyze/troubleshoot various situations
  • Excellent understanding of emerging computer & cloud technologies, cyber security threats and remediation strategies
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel to various Company locations and sites
  • Must be able to work off-hours and be on-call when the need arises

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California or New York City is $95,000 - $120,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
