Starting Pay Range: $31.80 – $39.90 per hour

As a Financial Crimes Analyst, you will be a subject matter expert and a mentor to Fraud & Loss Prevention Specialists, providing support and guidance through fraud situations. You will also work closely with the Fraud & Loss Prevention Manager and other business units to proactively identify areas of financial or compliance risk and ensure proper mitigation techniques are in place.

Every day you will:

  • Perform quality control checks of processed claims to ensure regulatory compliance and member service expectations are being met.
  • Assist team members with preparing reports to law enforcement and for financial crimes court cases.
  • Ensure appropriate mitigation strategies and solutions are in place to detect and deter fraud and other financial crimes. Identify fraud trends and develop strategies to mitigate losses.
  • Monitor industry news and publications for upcoming changes in regulation. Work with the Fraud & Loss Prevention Manager and appropriate business units to make necessary program adjustments.
  • Act as a liaison with vendors. Work with internal teams to solve vendor issues.
  • Work directly with auditors and examiners, providing documentation and ensuring proper understanding of OCCU processes. Work with the Fraud & Loss Prevention Manager to develop and implement appropriate changes and controls in response to audit and exam findings.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with key contacts in the community such as other financial institution personnel, law enforcement officials and industry experts.
  • Act as a mentor to Fraud & Loss Prevention Specialists, assisting with questions and providing guidance and resources for dealing with difficult situations. Work with Organizational Development and other departments to ensure new hire and ongoing training is appropriate.
  • Respond to member complaints and assist Fraud & Loss Prevention Specialists in handling escalated situations. Respond to trends in complaints by adjusting processes and system rule sets to ensure a positive member experience.
  • Represent Fraud & Loss Prevention on various committees and project teams.
  • Develop and maintain reporting to assist members of management, the Supervisory Committee, and Board of Directors in understanding current loss, mitigation and regulatory trends.
  • Consult with legal counsel regarding delicate fraud issues.
  • Monitor case trends to assist the team with identification of fraud rings and system changes necessary to mitigate loophole exploitation.
  • Perform enhanced due diligence reviews to determine whether members or potential members are involved in prohibited activity.

To thrive in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum five years of demonstrated related experience, with a minimum three years of demonstrated experience directly related to financial crimes, item processing, compliance or another relevant field.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain applicable certifications or training while in the position.
