Position: Fiber & EDS Project Engineer

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Must work in tandem with the Engineering Assistants and Draftsmen
- Typical Fiber and EDS design responsibilities range from the initial determination of the pathway routing and construction alternatives based on site walkouts to final detailed design generation. The engineer is fully responsible and accountable for the final design content and document generation to support the placement of the physical fiber and infrastructure supporting Outside and Inside Plant communication facilities
- Responsible for conducting fiber optic detailed network design for middle mile and last mile fiber-based networks or Fiber to Facilities projects.
- It requires an in-depth understanding of current fiber optic design standards and industry processes. It also requires a working knowledge to perform close coordination with site fielding staff and drafting personnel to support the final product.
- Calculate and generate all necessary splicing prints/port assignments for Fiber installations
- His work on a project begins with designing new systems or improvements on old ones and creating blueprints.
- Provide engineering support to operations and maintenances of fiber systems.
- Monitor performances of fiber systems and recommend improvements.
- Maintain documentations of all engineering tasks performed for future reference purposes.
- Interact with all Chevron construction sites and suppliers.
- Experience retrieving engineering data from multiple platforms or engineering drawings, interpreting the data, and properly distributing to technical teams and systems of record.
- Compiling data, communicating, and providing information to construction staff.
- Experience engaging with other employees on database systems and engaging external customers
- Demonstrated strong teamwork skills and the ability to work with multi-discipline peers, managers, engineers, and planners. Interacts positively with people in other work groups.
- Desired is ability to be self-directed or showing initiative.
- Strong Interpersonal, analytical and communication skills
- Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Functions as a technical specialist with minimal supervision
- Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or sciences preferred or any other degree, specialized training, or experience, that makes the individual uniquely qualified to perform the job responsibilities preferred
- Minimum of 3+ years related work experience in OSP and/or ISP fiber detailed design. Highly preferred 5+ years’ experience. Familiar with construction focused on fiber builds
- Experience in interpreting client request and apply design standards to work product
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.51 - $98.00 per hour
