The Environmental Specialist - Air primary responsibilities will be for environmental data applications, tools, and processes with a focus on environmental reporting support at the INVISTA Orange Nylon Intermediates manufacturing facility in Orange, TX.
What You Will Do
- Manage multiple programs to ensure compliance with air, water, and waste regulations.
- Participate in state and federal agency inspections and requests for information.
- Develop tools and templates including automation while ensuring consistency in program compliance management.
- Supporting reasonable inquiry, reporting, and compliance management processes through validating data, building, and running data queries and reports, managing environmental share drives, SharePoint sites, etc.
- Driving continuous improvement through integration with site-wide processes, and “right-sizing” tools, eliminating data management redundancy, ensuring controls are in place for critical environmental data, and improving environmental information management and reporting activities.
- Ensure program requirements are understood and sustainable through the development of rigorous, robust, and integrated compliance systems.
- Ensure regulatory interpretations are clear and seek the best knowledge when uncertainties occur.
- Perform periodic self-assessments and participate in audits to verify compliance and system effectiveness.
- Perform required inspections and field reviews for maintaining compliance with permits and regulations.
- Ensure that all deadlines are met for the site Compliance Plan and Periodic Reports.
- Submit timely responses to environmental agency requests.
- Work within a team setting to ensure departmental goals are achieved.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or environmental science.
- 2+ years of experience in state and federal environmental air compliance.
- Experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting (includes internships, co-ops, etc.).
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience with ASPEN, PI, and/or SEEQ.
- Experience in a petrochemical facility.
- Experience with Environmental Air permitting and air programs.
- Experience working with local, state, and federal environmental agencies personnel.
- Experience assessing potentially high-risk situations and providing timely notification as needed.
- Knowledge of Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) air regulations
- Knowledge of federal NESHAP, NSR, MACT, and Title V standards.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).- Must be able to work on job sites in the field.
- Must be able to climb stairs in the operating unit.
- Must be willing to work extended hours or outside of normal business hours as needed.
