The Role

The future of climate control is Carbon neutral! Do you want to directly contribute to an organization committed to reduce its customer carbon footprint by 1 Gigaton of Carbon Dioxide? The Director, Electric Systems & Components Network of Excellence (NoE) will lead the technical strategy for systems and components used across SBUs and will play a critical role in shaping the future of our sustainable product offerings.

This position will report to the Vice President, Advanced Technology & Partnerships, and will be based in either Davidson, North Carolina or Bloomington, Minnesota.

Job Summary:

This position will lead stakeholders in delivering our electrification product strategy providing unequaled customer value with new technology and systems offerings. The ideal candidate will have multiple years of experience with design and development of electrified components and systems. The candidate will have demonstrated experience working directly in multiple functional domains. The candidate will expand both capabilities and capacity, to support the design cycle of electric systems & components (i.e., batteries, power converters, motor drives and power distribution units) through coordination with other NoE’s, SBU CoE’s, ETC’s and SBU platform. The candidate must also have demonstrated ability to actively listen, integrate input from diverse sources and successfully translate these requirements into cohesive strategies and innovative solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Expand both capabilities and capacity, to support the design cycle of electric systems & components (i.e., batteries, power converters, motor drives and power distribution units) through coordination with other NoE’s, SBU CoE’s, ETC’s and SBU platform.
• Develop & deliver an optimized component and system offering to support overall product roadmap
• Provide system and component direction to develop global solutions while outlining a path towards reuse, scalability, and leverage of components across platform products.
• Identify and develop partnerships with external technology providers
• Lead power component design oversight, development, validation, and integration for the enterprise.
• Identify key areas of product innovation and differentiation to demonstrate and develop technologies that can be applied across SBUs
• Provide key periodic updates to leadership on progress of existing projects and future plans
• Conduct feasibility studies and ideation events with cross-functional teams with focus on best-in-class components and systems.
• Demonstrate and evangelize the electrification benefits and value internally and externally
• Inspire, mentor, and encourage developers to apply industry's best practices.
• Support SBUs in understanding their needs and getting them ready for electrification transformation.
• Ensure regulatory compliance for new architectures and applications.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science with 8+ years of electrification experience in the areas of power storage, transfer, conversion, and embedded controls.
• 10+ years of leadership experience, with demonstrated expertise in setting short and long-term strategy to drive business performance
• Experience working with emerging markets and ideally in companies that derive a portion of revenue from, services, solutions management or contracting
• Systems Engineering experience preferred
• Global leadership experience preferred.

• Experience with solutions for rugged application in harsh climate environments is a plus.
• Automotive Powertrain experience is a plus.
• An understanding of refrigeration, transportation or HVAC equipment is a plus.
