Department Overview:
The ORE Core is an essential component of the Layton Aging & Alzheimer's Disease Center, with the mission of expanding knowledge, education and recruitment engagement for Oregonians interested in and concerned about dementia. The ORE Core works to increase awareness and understanding of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, contributing to national and international efforts towards community engagement, research, and effective caregiver support.
Function/Duties of Position:
This position assists with the coordination and management of the ORE Core. The Research Assistant will support the ORE Core leaders by tracking projects, scheduling meetings, coordinating events, creating flyers and promotional materials and managing website content. They will also communicate with internal and external stakeholders – sharing information with the public, facilitating recruitment for research studies and engaging with community partners. Duties also include project and file management, managing student activities, grant administration, budgeting and general support.

This work requires the use of independent judgement, problem solving skills, project and time management. Strong interpersonal communication and organization skills are essential. This position also requires the ability to complete complex and detail-oriented duties while working closely with investigators, study staff and external organizations. Applicants must have the ability to integrate and apply information from multiple sources. Periodic off-site community events require some evening and weekend work and personal transportation. Periodic remote work may be available.

Work location: Hatfield Research Center (OHSU hospital) and the Neurology Clinic located in the Center for Health & Healing, building 1

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in relevant field OR Associate's AND 2 years of relevant experience OR 3 years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience working with diverse communities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate and experienced knowledge of Word, Excel, and other MS Office programs
  • High level of technological proficiency, including video-chat technology
  • Excellent eye to detail and organization skills; self-starter with ability to prioritize work demands and manage time appropriately; demonstrated high level of organization and ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to speak and communicate clearly, and demonstrate a high level of professionalism; ability to interact patiently and respectfully
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with other teams
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graphic design experience
  • Web design and management
  • Experience writing/editing articles for newsletters
  • Experience working with older adults and with cognitively or neurologically impaired older adults
