The Civil Structural Engineer is a part-time position working in the HGA office in Baton Rouge, LA.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- The Civil Structural Engineer is accountable for performing simple, routine tasks under close supervision of engineers, designers and drafters.
- Accountable for adhering to company or client drafting standards and procedures.
- Assist in preparation calculations and designs of steel and concrete structures using manual and computer methods.
- Preparation of working drawings by transferring Engineer’s or Designer’s marks using AutoCAD.
- Produce construction drawings using company standards and/or drafting techniques.
- Assist in preparation of drawing packages for issue, including plotting drawings, making copies, assembling drawings & document packages and assuring package completeness.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with project team members.
- Familiarity with AISC, ACI, IBC, ASCE 7, and other design codes, standards, and practices.
- Familiarity in AutoCAD and Microsoft Windows/Office is preferred.
- Must be able to work part-time while completing degree.
- Candidates must have previous work experience at engineering consulting companies.
- Must be located within daily commuting distance of Baton Rouge, LA.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in Civil Structural Engineering or student pursuing their Master's degree is required.
- Knowledge of steel and reinforced concrete.
- Knowledge of Finite Elements Analysis.
- Passed the NCEES FE exam is preferred.
- Certification as an Engineering Intern (EI) with LAPELS is preferred.
