Anticipated Duration: This is a temporary position that is expected to last until November 15, 2023.
Job Description - What you will do: Assist ODFW wildlife biologists and staff of the West Region research team monitoring adult radio-collared elk, capturing, marking and monitoring elk calves, recovering any mortalities, and collecting vegetation samples in the Tioga WMU. This involves travel by vehicle or foot in isolated, rugged and uneven terrain during all seasons, and under all weather conditions. Some risk during handling/collaring of trapped animals.

Requirements/Requested Skills: Minimum qualifications are not established for these positions; however, we are seeking applicants with the following related skills and experience (e.g., knowledge of animal telemetry equipment, experience conducting animal capture and immobilization, collecting and accurately recording field data, computer skills, ATV operation, and customer service) and who possess or are in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with this background.
  • Requires a flexible work schedule that varies in the number of hours worked on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day, or a work schedule in which the starting and stopping times vary on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day. This includes working at all hours and workdays in excess of eight hours.
  • This position requires an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Safety Education Card for on-the-job use of quads (Class 1 ATVs) obtained through the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, accessible at the following website:

Criminal Records/DMV Check
Applicants are subject to both a criminal history and motor vehicles check. Driving is required for all positions.
