Assistant Director of Student Engagement: Leadership & Student Organizations
Job description

Serves as a consultant to students and student organizations to offer students an opportunity for increased group participation and interaction;
-
Provides support in the new student organization petition processes;
-
Communicates readily with organizational officers and advisors to inform them of campus events and leadership opportunities;
-
Provides support and recommends resources for all Otterbein student organizations.
Student Leadership Responsibilities
-
Designs curriculum for leadership trainings (and course)
-
Co-manages the Celebration of Leadership and Service awards
-
Instructs leadership course offered to students as part of the leadership minor
-
Co-manages spring Cardinal Leadership Summit
-
Oversees and creates training sessions for all student organization presidents
-
Collaborate with Associate Director for Greek leadership training
Student Government Responsibilities
-
Serves as the advisor to the Otterbein Undergraduate Student Government;
-
Manages the annual election process and training of officers;
-
Oversees and supports OUSG committees
-
Oversees the annual application and disbursement process of Student Government funds
-
Manages Student Government annual budget
-
Provides guidance to Student Government leaders on organizational development, program planning, event management, policy interpretation, and fiscal management;
-
Conducts assessment on Student Government and related initiatives and report on the results.

Attends University Senate and Committee meetings
Signature Event Coordination
-
Manages logistics and promotions for signature student events hosted by the CSE
-
Provides support to campus traditions, including, but not limited to: Homecoming and Commencement
-
Collaborates with internal and external partners to implement innovative events
Commuter Student Life Responsibilities
-
Oversees the student engagement outreach and support of commuter students;
-
Coordinates communication with commuter students;
-
Manages the upkeep of the Commuter Student Lounge;
-
Coordinates the development of resources to support the commuter student experience;
-
Works with the OUSG Commuter Student Senators and other interested students in the engagement of the Commuter Student Association
General Center Responsibilities:
-
Assists in the management of the general operations including: strategic planning, transportation and risk-management, supervision of student employees, budget oversight, communications, outreach, public relations, tracking, and assessment;

Provides support and assistance to the Dean
-
Participates in a team approach to coordinating programs within the Department;
-
Serves on campus committees as appointed or needed;
-
Completes reports and assessment of programs and activities;
-
Participates in evening and weekend activities, as needed.
General Student Affairs Responsibilities:
-
Works with the Student Affairs staff and faculty to facilitate campus-wide programs and activities;
-
Maintains open lines of communication with faculty, students, community partners, and the administration;
-
Develops a campus community where all individuals may be best served, taking into consideration the needs, interests and abilities of individual students and student groups;
-
Participates in student affairs staff meetings and professional development opportunities;
-
Counsels with students having difficulty personally, emotionally, socially and/or academically and makes appropriate referrals when necessary;
-
Participates in evening and weekend activities, as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises student personnel
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree required, Master strongly preferred; experience in higher education and student life.
Experience working and engaging with students of various racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
The successful candidate will demonstrate, through examples, support for diversity, equity and inclusiveness with students and staff as well as participate in maintaining a respectful, positive work environment.
