A minimal requirement of a terminal degree in Elementary Education or a related field with expertise in understanding the science of reading and the implications for teaching and learning. Experience in delivery and management of curriculum in a higher education setting. A current or eligibility for a North Carolina Teaching License in grades K-6 with a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience at the level is required.

Job Description
Responsibilities include: primarily teaching 8 courses per year with a focus on literacy and implementation of the Science or Reading and applications through instruction and assessment in the classroom, advising and mentoring undergraduate students seeking initial licensure, as well as supervision of field experience and student teaching interns. Additional responsibilities include service on School of Education and University committees, maintaining an active research agenda, engaging in professional development and assessment and evaluation of program related to standards.
Candidates should provide evidence of supporting pre-service and in-service
teachers’ commitment to equity and diversity in public schooling, experience
in collaboration with elementary faculty and school partners; expertise in
technology integration in the classroom. Strong consideration will be
afforded to candidates with a demonstrated record of professional teaching
experience at the elementary and collegiate level.
