The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a goal-oriented and innovative leader to join our team as the Women’s Services Operations Director (WSOD). The ideal candidate's background and experience will demonstrate a track record of spearheading the implementation of new policies and practices in a modern correctional setting including institutional corrections and community corrections. The WSOD must communicate a gender-responsive philosophy to all levels of security operations, programming and services, and reentry activities throughout the agency. This position will also lead the implementation of best practices and ensure compliance with all federal and state laws. Through regular briefings with the Director and the executive team, the WSOD will ensure all operations and services supporting our female populations are strategically aligned with Agency’s mission and values.

Job Duties:
  • Provides direct administrative and managerial supervision at the Perryville Woman’s Prison
  • At the direction of the Senior Leadership Team of ADCRR, responsible for the organization, formulation, and implementation of all security operations, programming and services, and reentry services for the women's population of ADCRR's correctional complexes and community supervision offices
  • Ensures the Agency is gender-responsive in all aspects of its operations
  • Develops and manages gender-responsive policies and practices as they relate to community and facility corrections and case management
  • Develops practices that will help reduce recidivism for women under the supervision of ADCRR
  • Facilitates group and individual supervision, trains staff to be gender-responsive, and ensures compliance with program contractual requirements, regulations, and objectives within ADCRR women’s correctional facilities
  • Responsible for the direct administrative and managerial supervision of the Warden, all employees, and the women’s population of Arizona State Prison Complex – Perryville
  • Responsible for the strategic planning, operational functions, and expenditure of funds related to women’s services
  • Ensures the facility is run efficiently and effectively, and adheres to all policies of the department, state and federal regulations regarding women’s health care
  • Consults with and collaborates with the Director, Deputy Director, Assistant Directors, Wardens, and other top-level staff on a wide variety of issues pertaining to female offenders
  • Assists in identifying and instituting corrective action plans, ensuring strategic alignment with the mission, goals, and objectives of the agency

  • Arizona Department of Administration personnel rules, policies, and procedures
  • Departmental policies and procedures
  • Gender-responsive and trauma-informed policies, practices, and programs
  • Management of Women’s Prisons local government administration
  • Basic principles and practices of program and budget development, administration, and evaluation
  • Methods and techniques of supervision, training and motivation management, and planning practices
  • Organizational design and structure
  • Computer operation and associated software
  • Arizona legislative processes, protocols for verbal and written testimony before committees and representatives of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of state government

Selective Preference(s):
  • Prefer a Bachelor's degree or higher in Criminal Justice or Bachelor's degree or higher in Public Administration.
  • Ten (10) years of work experience in correctional healthcare and/or administration.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
