The Lancaster County Career and Technology Center has an anticipated vacancy for a Part-Time Adult Education Welding Instructor for our Mount Joy Campus!

Position Summary:

The part-time instructor’s role is to teach a wide range of welding technology courses. The Instructor shall be responsible for following curriculum, preparing lesson plans, selecting appropriate books and teaching materials, and successfully teaching subject matter to adult students. The Instructor will be responsible for developing and conducting learning programs and associated materials for students with the ultimate goal of producing entry-skilled and employable students. Additionally, the LCCTC Postsecondary Instructor develops innovative partnerships with private industry, businesses and other educational and community-based organizations that provide mutual benefit to the community, school and students.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma (or equivalent)
• 3 or more years of relevant industry experience in ARC, MIG and TIG welding
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office
• Valid PA Driver's License may be required
• Current (within one year) Criminal (FBI and State) background checks and Child Abuse Clearance, to be obtained/confirmed at time of hire
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
• The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, such as trade-specific equipment
• Able to use and maintain Machinery and Equipment specific to trade
• Adheres to the established work schedule through regular and consistent attendance

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Communicate with staff, clients, service providers, contractors and visitors in an efficient, effective and timely manner
• Develop individual instructional materials
• Aid in the selection of books, tools, and equipment
• Work in conjunction with the Secondary Program Faculty to maintain an up-to-date inventory of all tools and equipment
• Maintain accurate records for attendance, progress charts and grade reports
• Use proper and accepted instructional techniques to reach adult learners with a variety of learning styles
• Meet with company representatives to assist in developing and delivering company site-based programs
• Recruit, network, and develop outreach and other related tasks to foster program growth
• Assume other essential functions as assigned by the Welding Coordinator and Director of Higher & Continuing Education
• Assist in maintaining State and national credentials/accreditation
• Assist students to develop skills which will enhance student ability to obtain and maintain employment;
• Support students in acquiring employment and/or continuing education by assisting in development of resumes and various job search materials
• Follows basic first aid procedures as necessary
• Completes required paperwork for postsecondary/Adult education programs; and Uses professional judgment to provide and maintain an educational environment conducive to learning
• Work independently and with others, under the direction of the Director of Higher & Continuing Education and Adult Welding Coordinator to perform required tasks

Rate: $30.75/hour

Schedule: Program runs Monday - Thursday, 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. - schedule to be determined
