The key to successful water supply management is the ability to carefully assess client needs and deliver technically accurate, cost-effective solutions. Mott MacDonald serves both public and private-sector utilities and has earned sustained assignments from many clients. Our staff throughout the United States and Canada has extensive experience in all aspects of water supply management.

Our Tarrytown, NY office is seeking an engineer to support our water group on existing projects and growth in Connecticut and the Westchester-Rockland region of NY. Come join our team, work and collaborate with a group of professional engineers to improve the infrastructure of the surrounding communities. The ideal candidate will be able to execute on existing projects and have a growth mindset.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
  • Plan, investigate, and perform field work activities to determine feasibility of options and to complete design activities;
  • Perform detailed calculations related to pumping systems, hydraulics, and process calculations for various unit processes at water and wastewater plants;
  • Prepare and develop engineering drawings, specifications, and other project deliverables.
  • Develop engineering project cost estimates;
  • Assist during construction to serve as the lead project engineer responsible for review of shop drawings, RFIs, and design clarifications;
  • Assist and lead permitting activities with local and state regulatory agencies;
  • Attend project meetings, prepare agendas, and meeting minutes;
  • Coordinate and work with various disciplines in the execution of the work.
Work closely with project managers and senior design engineers in review of work and coordination in execution of designs.

Candidate Specification

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in water and/or wastewater design;
  • Licensed Professional Engineer; current registration in New York or Connecticut or ability to obtain within one year preferred;
  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil, environmental, or a related engineering discipline;
  • Experience in design, bidding, and construction phase services for water and/or wastewater systems;
  • High motivation and passion to provide exceptional client service;
  • Solid technical background and project experience demonstrating the potential to grow into a senior project manager role in the water field;
  • Ability to lead project teams, mentor early career staff, and proactively resolve issues to accomplish results;
Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present effective technical reports.
