Serving on a WCC crew means spending your days outdoors, in all weather conditions, accomplishing projects that restore and enhance landscapes across Washington. Crew members serve on a crew of five AmeriCorps members, along with an experienced crew supervisor who provides training, mentorship, and development opportunities. Must be *18-25 years old. Members earn a living allowance of $1,253 twice a month ($2,506/month, pre-tax) and an AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,718.25 after completing a 3-month term (450 hours). Educational loan forbearance, health insurance and a Member Assistance Program (MAP) are available. Successful applicants will be required to verify their vaccination record or seek a medical or religious exemption for the 22-23 service term. *Age restrictions do not apply to those with military service or with mental or sensory disabilities. Priority deadline for applications is May 15, 2023.



Member Duties : Based on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula, this crew is sponsored by the North Olympic Salmon Coalition. WCC AmeriCorps members on this crew will improve habitat for salmon and wildlife throughout Jefferson and Clallam Counties. The crew partners with many different natural resource management organizations. The crew is primarily focused on riparian improvement but may also conduct trail projects, minor construction, noxious weed control, salmon surveys and more. Weed control may be done with hand tools, machines, and or herbicide. There will be opportunities to swap with other WCC crews to experience all the WCC has to offer. Regular schedule is Monday to Thursday, 7 am-5:30 pm. Overnight travel may be required for either 4 days or 8 days in a row (known as "spike"). When serving on an 8-day spike assignment, members serve Th-Th with 6 days off before travel. Food/lodging are provided on spike assignments. Lodging may be camping, bunkhouses, or hotels.
