Hunger at Home is a small business in San Jose, CA. We are supportive, rewarding, engaging and our goal is to Each day in Silicon Valley, tens of thousands of pounds of excess food and surplus goods are dumped in our landfills and go to waste. In a Valley where one in three people experience food insecurity, Hunger at Home was created to connect the food and goods with those in need. Hunger at Home partners with local convention centers, hotels, and sports stadiums to collect excess food and goods to distribute to the hungry and homeless through a robust nonprofit network. To date, Hunger at Home has donated 9 million meals locally and helped distribute much needed items like towels, blankets, kitchen items, and hygiene kits. Hunger at Home also helps the clients of its nonprofit partners with job training and placement in the very businesses that donate excess food..

For the warehouse crew member we are looking to hire experienced and eager individuals who are ready to build careers, learn and grow. You will be ensuring to fulfill orders, organizing merchandise, keep stock inventory levels full and unloading/inventorying new merchandise. Job duties may include some or all of the following: providing excellent customer service, be able to deliver and assist in catering, pick up donated goods, food preparation and handling, cleaning, dishwashing and any other needs of our nonprofit organization.
Responsibilities:
- Fulfill orders needed for deliveries.
- Ensure weekly food bank deliveries are picked up and distributed to site.
- Assist and supports services of the program.
- Help unload and receive new inventory.
- Weekly warehouse inventory control.
- Organize warehouse to ensure proper stock levels.
- Keep warehouse clean at all times.
- Deliver products to multiple locations.
- Help the warehouse and culinary team when necessary.
- Following safe food handling and sanitation practices.
- Nurture and strengthen our relationships with vendors, NPOs, and customers.
- Operate company vehicle (truck and van) to safely transport donations.
- Perform other related duties assigned.
Requirements:
- 2 years or more of warehouse experience.
- Valid CA driver's license.
- Clean driving record.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Able to load/unload trucks.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong computer competency.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clarity, respect, and dignity.
- Flexibility to work overtime when needed.
- Good organization and time management skills.
- Non-slip shoes (for safety purposes)
