Description:

The Underwriting Team Lead will supervise staff and oversee day-to-day operation of an underwriting unit, managing to service level objectives and ensuring that underwriters operate within their authority limits.

Daily Duties:

Support underwriting unit by handling referrals, provide technical guidance and expertise, and assist in the development and implementation of continued training for Underwriting Staff

Provide input on companywide Underwriting guidelines, strategy, and procedures especially for commercial auto

Participate in the successful implementation of underwriting projects and initiatives

Assist underwriters with managing their duties to accelerate growth and to maintain underwriting discipline

Advocate compliance with insurance laws, rules, and regulations

Provide leadership, support and guidance to the underwriting team

Effectively work with other members of the Leadership team to work together to meet production and profitability goals

Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training; planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
