JOB SUMMARY
Assist the underwriting services department in clerical functions, indexing and distributing mail, and
initiating the non-automated new business process.


POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Sort and index all incoming mail.
  • Initiate non-automated quotes and new issues.
  • Research policy or quote numbers for unidentifiable documents.
  • Maintain the printers and copiers in the underwriting services area.
  • Contact agents for incomplete information.
  • Assist with various policy correction projects.
  • Assist with notifying various work comp bureaus of cancellations and reinstatements.
  • Work with information technology to fix problems with indexing and importing documents.
  • Process Work Comp crits.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.

  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
  • Demonstrate ability to make decisions within department guidelines.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
  • Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and department staff
    members.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
List Degree Requirement, Years' Experience, and Certifications
Education and/or Experience

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least one year of general business experience.
  • Completion of the Insurance Institute of America Introduction to Insurance program is desired.
  • Two to three years of general business or insurance experience is desired.
