TITLE: TUFTING TECHNICIAN
Department: Carpet Tufting FLSA: Hourly
Reports To: Tufting Area Manager Supervises: None

Position Summary
The Tufting Technician, sometimes referred to as “Fixer” is a full-time hourly “Company Select” position.
This position reports to the Tufting Area Manager and Carpet Production Manager. The Tufting
Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair and setup of the tufting machines including changes necessary for changes in customer specifications.
General Qualifications
Education/Knowledge:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Passing work keys: Applied Math (score 4 or higher), Workplace Documents (score 4 or higher), Graphic Literacy (score 4 or higher), Applied Technology (score 4 or higher)
Experience (required and preferred):
Tufting Technician I
- 2 years or more manufacturing experience (required)
- 5+ years Tufting Machine Operator experience (preferred)
- Maintenance or Mechanical experience/training (required)
Tufting Technician II (Senior)
- 2 year or more manufacturing experience (required)
- 10+ years Tufting Machine Operator experience or
- 5 years Tufting Technician (fixer) experience
Skills (required and preferred*):
- Ability to work independently and/or in team setting as needed.
- Ability to use tools and equipment as needed.
- Troubleshooting
- Basic computer skills including MS Office tools
- Ability to prioritize tasks to meet daily goals and insure quality.

Job Description
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Vision, hearing, and speech are required. Manual dexterity is necessary. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled.
- Ability to lift carpet of 15 – 25 lbs
- Ability to stand the majority of the shift
- Ability to be in inconvenient positions under the machine
- Follow Lockout Tagout requirements based on OSHA and Hyosung Safety Program
Essential Duties
- Perform Preventative Maintenance on Tufting machines per schedule
- Perform style change setup
- Make necessary repairs to tufting machines according to Machine Adjustments.
- Perform changeover of blades, hooks and needles on tufting machines.
- Make necessary speed adjustments to tufting machines
- Make necessary tufting machine adjustments to accommodate style changes / customer specification
- Repair mending guns and other tufting equipment
- Sharpen and Build Knives
- Break down knives, inspect blocks and perform any necessary repairs
- Do complete knife changes in machines per schedule or request
- Change out hooks on hook bars
- Repair machine motors, running mechanisms, etc.
- Repair creels including tubing and cone holders as necessary
- Follow all company policies and procedures and ISO 9000 regulations to ensure integrity of product.
- Analyze retrieved data and prepare reposts for Management / customers.
- Recognize and report any safety concerns, Product deficiencies or non-conformities.

- Complete all paperwork as required
- Maintain good housekeeping in all work areas
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs other department functions as needed
- Assist and/or operate Tufting Machines as needed or instructed.
- Performs other duties as required and/or instructed by Area Manager.
