Pay Range:
- $11.00 per hour
- Up to $13 per hour
*We provide free training on site for this role - you must complete our certification course regardless of any previous licensing*
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide surveillance of swimmers according to the established protection standards
- Perform water rescues on guests in distress
- Provide basic first aid and emergency care
- Maintain knowledge of and consistently enforce the rules and regulations of the water park (including attraction requirements such as height restrictions, weight restrictions, proper riding position, etc.)
- Attend in-service training sessions as directed by management to maintain CPR, first aid and rescue skills at a rescue ready level
- Communicate with management and other employees including use of whistles and hand signals
- Assist customers in safely riding attractions
- Be attentive at all times
- Maintain a professional image
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment for customers and other employees
- Provide superior guest service to all customers in a polite and expedient manner
- Assist customers with all questions regarding Hawaiian Falls Waterpark including facility layout and amenities
- Follow all park policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Successful completion of Jeff Ellis & Associates lifeguard training course (training provided). Course dates are to be determined. *We do not accept other provider licenses*
- Excellent recognition skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with public, customers and staff members
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision
- Be aware, attentive, and work well with others
- Energy and enthusiasm for long shifts
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions while taking precautions, including hydration and sun-protection
- Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays to meet business needs
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to swim 200 yards using front crawl (freestyle) or breast stroke without resting
- Must be able to perform a feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb. brick, and bring it to the surface
- Must be able to get in and out of a pool without a ladder
- Must be comfortable jumping in water from varying heights
- Ability to climb stairs
- Must be able to respond to situations quickly. This may include running to various locations around the park, while carrying up to 40 lbs. of weight
- Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time
- May be exposed to direct sunlight, hot temperatures, or rain
