This position has a full salary range of $70,000 - $85,000 per year with eligibility for annual bonus. Starting salary is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience and performance.

The candidate hired for this role must be based in the Midwest region, ideally in Chicago, IL or Minneapolis, MN.

SUMMARY:
The Territory Sales Manager role is responsible for driving growth for a portfolio of brands by identifying and selling into key natural retailers, developing and maintaining strategic relationships, creating and overseeing tools to proactively manage brand development and execution, and leveraging analytics and data to support product presentation. Ideal candidates will have existing relationships with assigned natural, specialty and independent retailers such as Fresh Thyme, Hy-Vee, Meijer, Lunds & Byerlys, as well as an intimate working knowledge of UNFI / Kehe and other regionally based distribution companies. Successful candidates will be analytical, organized, and proactive communicators.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Build and nurture relationships with national and regional retailers in assigned region.
  • Collect and share annual category review schedules / reset calendars for each account in assigned region.
  • Maintain company sales tracking tools with up-to-date notes, data, and insights.
  • Maintain distribution tracking tool to reflect which products are available through which distributors.
  • Plan and manage annual promotions for accounts in assigned region.
  • Attach retailer promo plans to national distributor promo plan.
  • Retail strategy and cost of business planning.
  • Discuss retail specific pricing strategy, EDLP, Hi/Lo, Hybrid with brands to price position competitively within retail requirements.
  • Participate in monthly client meetings as requested by National Sales Managers, and give updates on agreed KPl's.
  • Attend trade shows, table tops, and meetings as requested to support the growth of clients.
  • Be the retail account expert to guide brands on how to be successful in placed accounts.
  • Maintain retail level distributor account management relationship (UNFI/KEHE etc).
  • Plan, submit and present for all category reviews at accounts in assigned region.
  • Communicate projected store counts/velocity to National Sales Managers for sales forecasting.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3-5 years of sales experience working for a national broker or CPG company with experience and existing relationships with Fresh Thyme, Hy-Vee, Meijer, and Lunds & Byerlys.
  • Experience and existing relationships with KeHe and UNFI distributors.
  • Demonstrable ability to navigate the natural channel distributor and retailer space.
  • Results driven- a demonstrated record of success developing and exceeding annual sales objectives.
  • The ability to manage multiple competing priorities while delivering results.
  • High level of organization/attention to detail and a strong focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to extrapolate selling stories from syndicated data and develop compelling sales presentations.
  • Excellent customer service, presentation, and active listening skills
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 60% locally and 40% overnight as needed.
  • Proficient in Google for Business, MS Office applications.
