Job Description A Clinical Nurse performs the nursing process while providing direct patient care in a safe and effective manner that promotes quality patient outcomes. The Clinical Nurse performs these functions as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Experience
BSN with 3 years of experience (4,500 hrs) OR ADN with 5 years of experience (7,500 hrs)
2 years of pediatric nursing required
1 year of telephone triage required

Preferred Qualifications
AAACN certification

Education
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

Certification Summary
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact
BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
PEARS Certification within one year of hire date
Certification required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Professional Mandatory Requirements
Completes orientation and Initial Assessment of Competency successfully by determined due date
Completes mandatory education and annual competency assessment requirements as defined by unit and system by due date
75% attendance at staff meetings, if applicable
Demonstrates enrichment in direct patient care and involved in activities that support direct patient care as evidenced by the activities outlined in Children’s Nursing Career Advancement Program

Job Responsibilities
Practice (Caring for the Patient)
Performs the nursing process across the continuum to deliver age and developmentally appropriate patient-family-centered care.
Integrates values and language preferences into healthcare delivery through a culturally sensitive process.
Utilizes clinical decision support tools and resources to recognize issues, prioritize care and modify plan of care as needed.
Utilizes appropriate documentation tools to record, measure and retrieve healthcare data.
Provides patient and family education appropriate for the identified learning needs.
Utilizes resources to plan and provide nursing care that is safe, effective, and financially responsible.
Demonstrates adaptability and proficiency in holistically managing direct care for complex patients. Anticipates and prioritizes patient care plan to deal with unexpected problems and make long range plans in a swift, efficient, and holistic manner.

Participates in lifelong learning to maintain knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice.
Incorporates new knowledge into nursing practice to support desired outcomes.

Provides oversight for nursing care given by unlicensed personnel while retaining accountability for the quality of care given to the patient, incorporating Telehealth guidelines where applicable.
Engages in ethical practices utilizing principles from The Code of Ethics for Nurses.
Maintains therapeutic and professional relationships with appropriate role boundaries.
Contributes to a supportive and healthy work environment.
Consults, contributes to and coordinates care with members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Demonstrates investment in others through the teaching/coaching/helper roles.

Serves as a resource to others at the unit level to enhance direct patient care (such as but not limited to preceptor, charge nurse, team lead, or mentor). Involved in activities that support direct patient care and/or the work environment (such as councils, projects, etc.).
