Summary

The Production Supervisor coordinates production activities, sets up production methods and processes, and makes recommendations for improved methods and processes. This position ensures that production tools and supplies are available, helps maintain a high quality of workmanship, and maintains routine contacts with support groups.

Duties And Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

• Reviews the Bill of Material (raw materials and drawings needed to build products) and draws raw materials, schedules workforce needs and makes plans for needed material and equipment to meet customer expectations.
• Ensures routings and equipment are available, produces drawing packages to the current revision based on the bill of material and engineering standards for operator use.
• Reviews and implements safety, environmental, and quality programs for departments under their responsibility.
• Monitors employees performance to standard and material utilization based on the bill of material.
• Ensures employees time and attendance is accurately reported daily.
• Reviews employee performance to make sure they are meeting efficiency standards and material utilization.
• Ensures employees are trained in the safe operation of equipment
• Works with maintenance supervisor on preventative maintenance or scheduled maintenance on equipment as needed.
• Works with plant and corporate engineering for continuous improvement of products and product costs.
• Performs pre employment candidate interviews and employee performance reviews.

Qualifications

The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency test/GED
• 2+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to problem solve and report information in a timely manner
• Ability to document records accurately under tight timeframes
• Ability to accurately conduct visual inspections for safety, equipment and process compliance, appropriate parts and welding processes
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions including basic blue prints and schematics
• Ability to work both alone and in a team environment
• Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing
• Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to receive and interpret information and communicate it accordingly
• Ability to make quick, effective judgements to resolve problems or navigate obstacles

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree
• 4 + years manufacturing experience and knowledge of welding/steel production methods, processes, and product specifications
