Position Summary Information

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The mission of the School of Nursing is to enhance and improve the health and well-being of the people of North Carolina and the nation, and, as relevant and appropriate, the people of other nations, through its programs of education, research, and scholarship, and through clinical practice and community service. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing has been the leader in nursing education in North Carolina throughout its history. Established in 1950, it was the first school of nursing in North Carolina to offer a four-year baccalaureate nursing degree program followed by the first master’s degree program, the first continuing education program for nurses, first doctoral program, and first accelerated BSN option to students with college degrees. Today, the School is renowned for its academic programs, its research and its commitment to clinical and community service within state, national and global communities.
The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) operates under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, and is responsible for the provision of all co-curricular, student-centric support services within the School of Nursing, to include: l) recruitment and admissions (recruitment, pre-admission counseling, application processing, admission support services); 2) enrolled student services (advocacy for and counseling of enrolled students; registration; administration of school-based financial aid; career planning/development; graduate credentialing); 3) non academic student activities (ceremonial events; orientation; student organization advising; workshops/seminars for personal/professional development), 4) student information system management (maintaining data security, data access/entry/tracking, report generation; permanent file repository); curricular support (course management/maintenance; program director assistance); and special program support (Hillman Scholars Program; student international travel and study abroad programs. OSA provides support to program admissions committees and academic progression review committees, principal investigators for research and training grant submissions, academic program directors and faculty, accrediting entities, and School leadership to include the Dean, and all associate and assistance deans. The Office is also liaison to the Office of the Dean of Students, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, The Graduate School, the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid, University Registrar, Office of Insurance and Risk Management, The University Cashier, Campus Health Service, the Office of Continuing Studies (including on-campus and off-campus credit programs), NC Board of Nursing, and nurse recruitment/employment offices at health care facilities throughout the region.
Programs offered by the school include the following: BSN (accelerated BSN (4-term), BSN and BSN-Military options), MSN Post-Graduate Certificate, Graduate Nurse Education Certificate, DNP, and PhD. Enrolled student services are provided to approximately 680 enrolled students in degree or certificate programs as follows: 330 BSN students (across 3 options), 110 MSN students (spanning nine options within five specialties), 20 post-graduate certificate program students110 DNP students (encompassing seven options within five specialties, and two pathways of study), and 40 PhD students (comprising three pathways of study and multiple research foci). Additionally, credentialing support is provided to all School alumni as needed until their respective retirement from the profession.

Position Summary
This position serves as one of two Admissions/Recruitment Coordinator positions and reports to the Director for Admissions and Recruitment. This position is responsible for coordination of recruitment, advisement, and application processing for academic programs offered by the School of Nursing. This position is also responsible for carrying out the mission of the School of Nursing.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Demonstrated experience working in a higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Skills required include strong self-management, the ability to organize workflow, pay attention to detail, and work effectively within a high-performing team. Strong organizational skills and customer service focus required. Good oral and written communication skills, including courteous phone manner and attention to detail. Ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), MS Teams and related software product. Must be able to adhere to all UNC-Chapel Hill FERPA policies and procedures. Competent in the UNC-Chapel Hill PeopleSoft student information system and Slate admission system to include ability to extract relevant admissions information. Ability and willingness to work some evenings/weekends and some overnight travel.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
