Crook County Middle School
DAYS & HOURS: 190 days per school year; 7.33 hours per day, plus 6 extra days

Student Services Coordinator
Reports to: Principal

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:

JOB SUMMARY:
The Student Services Coordinator has a variety of student supervision responsibilities, specifically assigned in the overall operation of the school. The Student Services Coordinator assists the principals in coordinating the school program through student supervision and behavior management programs in the school. The Student Services Coordinator works under the super vision of the Assistant Principals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as a licensed team member focusing on proactive and positive interactions with students and the school community at-large.
  • Manage student supervision issues and enforce school behavioral expectations.
  • Conduct objective investigations in a timely manner to ensure issues are handled effectively and efficiently.
  • Counsel students and families about school and district policies.
  • Assist school team members and parents in developing and coaching student behavioral expectations.
  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation and coaching of individual student behavior plans.
  • Serve as a resource to school team members in working through classroom management issues.
  • Assist in developing systems and programs to promote positive student behavior as well as explicit and intentional intervention strategies.
  • Coordinate alternative education placement for students.
  • Effectively communicate appropriate consequences for misbehavior.
  • Implement appropriate drug and alcohol interventions and interdiction strategies.
  • Provide monitoring and supervision of school facilities and activities which may include but not be limited to extracurricular and athletic events.
  • Knowledge and experience using PBIS.
  • Regular attendance is essential to meeting the essential functions.
  • Assist School Resource Officer (S.R.O.) as needed contacting and meeting with students and families.
  • Adhere to all Oregon Administrative Rules related to licensed educators. (See Addendum)
  • Other duties may be assigned as needs evolve.
MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marginal duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Serve on building and District committees and councils.
  • Report issues to authorities as necessary, animal control, suspicious activity etc.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may supervise volunteers, student aides, and instructional assistants. All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree in Education, Preliminary/Professional Administrative License, or currently enrolled in an Administrator License program.
  • Must have valid TSPC Oregon teaching license.
  • No less than three years classroom teaching experience at the secondary level.
  • Submission of professional application materials.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Education, Preliminary/Professional Administrative License, or currently enrolled in an Administrative License program.
  • Three or more year’s successful teaching experience.
  • Experience as a High/Middle School Dean of Students and/or Leadership role.
  • Experience advising middle or high school clubs/co-curricular activities.
  • Experience working in the AVID Schoolwide System.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: Ability to proficiently use the following programs strongly preferred: Synergy, Google Suite Apps. The ability to type accurately and proficiently.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents, members of the community and others including vendors, law enforcement and other agencies. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Licenses as determined by the District including, a valid Oregon Driver License and ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card.
