COMPLETE JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Student Services Coordinator
DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
JOB SUMMARY:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a licensed team member focusing on proactive and positive interactions with students and the school community at-large.
- Manage student supervision issues and enforce school behavioral expectations.
- Conduct objective investigations in a timely manner to ensure issues are handled effectively and efficiently.
- Counsel students and families about school and district policies.
- Assist school team members and parents in developing and coaching student behavioral expectations.
- Assist in the planning, development, and implementation and coaching of individual student behavior plans.
- Serve as a resource to school team members in working through classroom management issues.
- Assist in developing systems and programs to promote positive student behavior as well as explicit and intentional intervention strategies.
- Coordinate alternative education placement for students.
- Effectively communicate appropriate consequences for misbehavior.
- Implement appropriate drug and alcohol interventions and interdiction strategies.
- Provide monitoring and supervision of school facilities and activities which may include but not be limited to extracurricular and athletic events.
- Knowledge and experience using PBIS.
- Regular attendance is essential to meeting the essential functions.
- Assist School Resource Officer (S.R.O.) as needed contacting and meeting with students and families.
- Adhere to all Oregon Administrative Rules related to licensed educators. (See Addendum)
- Other duties may be assigned as needs evolve.
- Serve on building and District committees and councils.
- Report issues to authorities as necessary, animal control, suspicious activity etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree in Education, Preliminary/Professional Administrative License, or currently enrolled in an Administrator License program.
- Must have valid TSPC Oregon teaching license.
- No less than three years classroom teaching experience at the secondary level.
- Submission of professional application materials.
Master's Degree in Education, Preliminary/Professional Administrative License, or currently enrolled in an Administrative License program.- Three or more year’s successful teaching experience.
- Experience as a High/Middle School Dean of Students and/or Leadership role.
- Experience advising middle or high school clubs/co-curricular activities.
- Experience working in the AVID Schoolwide System.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on solving conflict; maintaining confidentiality; listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; remaining open to others' ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with adolescent students and public.
- Language Skills: Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, staff or members of the community. Ability to draft simple correspondence and some routine reports. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills: Ability to proficiently use the following programs strongly preferred: Synergy, Google Suite Apps. The ability to type accurately and proficiently.
- Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents, members of the community and others including vendors, law enforcement and other agencies. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Licenses as determined by the District including, a valid Oregon Driver License and ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and climb stairs. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Environment
The work environment is in a school that combines standard office setting including standard office equipment (fax, copier, phone, computer, 10-key, etc.) with the standard school setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate and occasionally high. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.
