Job Description
GEI s Boston area office is seeking a Staff Environmental Engineer, Scientist or Geologist. This individual will provide support to field- and office-related efforts. Field activities may include: coordinating and performing oversight of soil borings and installation of groundwater monitoring wells; collection of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil vapor and air samples; operation of air monitoring equipment; and remedial construction oversight and management. Office tasks may include: compilation of field documentation; subcontractor and subconsultant interaction; compilation, review, and interpretation of data; and preparation of draft correspondence, reports, and work plans.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Coordinate and conduct environmental site assessments, including soil borings, monitoring well installation, and environmental sampling.
- Provide technical oversight to subcontractors, including documenting construction activities and reviewing project specifications.
- Perform data management and analysis.
- Perform geologic interpretation or engineering calculations
- Draft correspondence and reports, including Phase I and II ESA reports, MCP reports, and soil management documents
- Adhere to project scopes and budgets
- This position has a field component; travel and some overnight travel are required. Candidates should be prepared to work in inclement conditions
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field. M.S. is a plus.
- 0-3 years of previous professional experience in environmental consulting, knowledge of MA MCP environmental regulations is a plus.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
- Valid U.S. Driver s license.
- Excellent computer skills with technical analysis software, CAD, MS Office, MS Project, PowerPoint, and other computer applications. Experience with GIS software a plus.
- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills are required.
- Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed.
- Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight year-round, as required without restrictions.
