Job Summary:
The Sr. Payroll Accountant will be responsible for the payroll treasury function including ACH processing and check printing. Position will partner with the accounting team to reconcile and ensure all payroll transactions are properly recorded. Position will collaborate with the Payroll Manager & Payroll Director in developing best practices and procedures for the payroll department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Process and print payroll direct deposit/live checks
• Prepare, update and process general ledger payroll files, taxes (federal, state & local)
• Ensure compliance with governmental payroll tax laws
• Spearhead union audits, external and internal audit requests as needed
• Process payment of union dues
• Research state and local tax requirements
• Update payroll system with state, UC, and local rates
• Responsible for payroll liability GL reconciliations
• Assist with Ad hoc payroll projects
• Partner with Manager & Director of Payroll to document SOPs and develop internal controls.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
• Comprehensive knowledge of US payroll including Federal, State and Local tax setups
• Minimum of 3 to 5 year’ experience processing multi-state payroll for large employee base
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical and time management skills
• Effective written and oral communication
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Knowledge of Blackline is a plus
• Acute attention to detail
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Commitment to customer service
