SQL Database Administrator position supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) in Falls Church, VA. This position requires someone with a current and active Secret clearance.

This is an IT Service Management contract in support of the operation, modernization, expansion, and further evolution of the ARNG's global Information Technology (IT) services including networking, compute, storage, infrastructure, applications, hosting, and program management services. The GECOS program supports the ARNG enterprise IT infrastructure, its Wide Area Network (WAN), authentication and directory services, cybersecurity, application hosting, and associated services. GECOS uses ITIL best practices framework as the basis for IT Service Management (ITSM) model.

HOW A SQL DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

• Performs day-to-day SQL administration; maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, ensuring data availability
• Performs Database Backup and Recovery functions as needed
• Installs SQL SW, Instances and perform upgrades and patching as needed
• Writes/maintains SQL scripts and processes as needed
• Creates indexes to enhance performance
• Designs/implements data transfer processes needed to support upgrades or movement to from different physical/virtual Machine/OS
• Participates in the design, maintenance, enhancement, coding, and administration of relational databases
• Authors/maintains System Security Plans, white papers and change management proposals, SOPs
• Creates, manages and performs troubleshooting Windows Clustering and SQL Server high-availability solutions
• Creates and monitors SQL Server Policy Objects
• Monitors Ticketing System queue for DBA assignments
• Monitors SQL Event Logs and use to identify/troubleshoot issues
• Creating and managing SQL Server Maintenance Plans for routine tasks and backup solutions as well as ability to create, troubleshoot and monitor SQL Server Agent jobs
• Reviews database jobs, backup logs, user connections and system memory
• Reviews performance information for SQL instances
• Completes STIG Checklists for SQL servers

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Education: Bachelors degree or 10+ years of relevant experience as a SQL Database Administrator
• Required Experience: 6+ years' experience with Microsoft SQL Server in Microsoft clusters.
• Required Technical Skills: Experience building, troubleshooting, and maintaining SQL servers. Experience and understanding of DoD DISA STIG/SCAP process and implementation. PowerShell experience.
• Certifications:
  • Must meet DoD IAT Level II IA and baseline certification at start date.
  • Microsoft SQL or Microsoft 2016 Server or newer certification.
  • Ability to obtain ITIL within 6 months of start date and IAT Level II certifications.
• Security Clearance Level: SECRET Clearance
• Required Skills and Abilities: Superb communication skills; strong ability to troubleshoot and multi-task
• Location: On Customer Site with up to 2 days telework option
