PRIMARY PURPOSE

In the spool technician role, the employee is responsible for proper maintenance, cleaning, and timely delivery of spools/reels to the proper cells while maintaining an appropriate backstock of spools with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Unloads returned reels/spools from truck

2. Confirm spools returned match expected levels

3. Assess spools for cleanliness and/or need for cleaning or repair

4. Clean/repair spools through various methods, not limited to: auto-sandblaster, ultrasonic cleaner, torque wrench

5. Determine replenishment levels needed for each cell and deliver spools via forktruck

6. Disposition RMA’s as needed

7. Sort bobbins into appropriate containers as needed

8. Notifies Purchasing of damaged or rejected material.

9. Routes items to departments.

10. Maintain 5S standard for area of work and storage areas.

11. Assist other logistics departments as needed i.e. Shipping/Receiving, Scrap associates, etc.

12. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

13. Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

14. Operates lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent experience.

2. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

3. Ability to write beyond simple routine documents.

4. Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing, and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.

5. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

6. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

7. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

8. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

9. Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.

10. Maintain a valid state issued drivers license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIORNMENT

1. Work is performed in a manufacturing plant with exposure to loud noise. Work may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosive, fumes or airborne particles.

2. Frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, reach, demonstrate manual dexterity, talk, hear and see.

3. Mandatory need to lift light to moderately heavy objects of at least 25 pounds.

4. Routinely required to lift light to moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.

5. Must be competent to operate a powered industrial truck safely, as demonstrated by the successful completion of the training and evaluation of field of vision, hearing, depth perception, and reaction timing.

6. Mandatory need to have clear vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.

7. Mandatory need to identify and distinguish colors by sight.

8. Required to wear personal protective equipment on a regular basis: hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear. The incumbent will be required to wear the following PPE as needed: hard hat, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing (rain suit, etc.), gloves, and other PPE as determined to protect the individual.

9. HPC promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment and for cause drug testing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.50 per hour
