W2 Contract for 4 months with opportunity of extensions.
Pay rate: $13.50 – $15.00 per hour.

Job description:
The position of Sorter is within Toxicology located at Richmond, VA. In this role, the individual will be responsible for receiving and sorting specimens in accordance with the SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and those of other regulatory organizations.

Main responsibilities:

• Receive and open specimens delivered to the laboratory for analysis.
• Sort specimens into bins and transfer to the departments.
• Process courier deliveries and store in designated areas.
• Inspect all trash bags once sorting process is completed to ensure sample and document removal.
• Maintain cleanliness of the Warehouse Accessioning area.
• Assist with freezer cleanout and destruction of specimens.
• Review and document acceptability of specimen and chain of custody forms.
• Adhere to all security procedures for ensuring confidentiality of donor information.
• Must comply with company policy.

Some activities may involve:

• Climate-controlled office and testing laboratory environment.
• Working in a refrigerated and -20 degree freezer area for storing and removing samples.
• Lifting and/or moving 50 pounds.
• Climbing stairs.
• May be potential exposure to toxic or hazardous materials.

Working schedule:
Tuesday to Saturday, from 8:30 am – 2 pm (Saturdays, from 9 am to 2:30 pm).

Requirements:

• High school Diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience working in a laboratory environment is highly desired.
• Understanding of laboratory techniques and procedures, as well as certification requirements for SAMHSA, CAP-FUDT, and other regulatory bodies.
