A Day in the Life
The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is responsible for performing Engineering Validation Testing (EVT) on Orbit B-hyve products to prepare devices for Design Validation Testing (DVT). The SDET will work closely with both application and firmware engineers to validate new products and verify features work as designed. Documents, tracks, and verifies that issues are resolved in both firmware and mobile application before handing product off to Quality Engineering.
What are the requirements for this position?

  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering or computer science, or equivalent and relevant experience
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing pumps and/or other test equipment.
  • Familiar with one of the following or a similar programming language: Python, C, or Clojure
  • Familiar with basic electrical circuits and wiring
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Able to use and properly handle power tools, hand tools, and lab equipment (DMM, oscilloscopes, function generators)

Responsibilities:

  • Tests new Orbit B-hyve products, firmware, and application features
  • Troubleshoots electrical circuits, firmware, and IoT technologies
  • Performs mobile application testing in both iOS and Android
  • Constructs and maintains fixtures for testing
  • Conducts product testing per the appropriate test protocols noted in applicable quality plans, product specifications and national standards
  • Conducts product failure analysis against test protocols, and specifications
  • Documents and gives feedback on test results, product failure analysis, and corrective action data
  • Reviews test reports to ensure they are complete and accurate
