Job description
Tesla Manufacturing Engineering has the important role of designing “The Machine that builds the Machine”. We work with the cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Production, Sustaining, and Supply Chain) throughout the entire lifecycle of a product (from initial design through prototype development and into full production) to develop high quality and efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produce the power electronics that drive our cars and energy products. The role of the manufacturing technician is to support the larger team in producing world-class products and production lines.
Responsibilities
· Program and operate SMT equipment (Printers, Placers, Oven, AOI and AXI)
· Assist in developing and refining manufacturing process with manufacturing engineers
· Validate production equipment
· Participate in manufacturing trials by preparing coupon-level samples
· Collect data using metrology
· Supervise automated electrical and mechanical test equipment
· Roll out process changes to production equipment
· Respond to advanced maintenance issues
· Interact daily with Manufacturing Engineers to communicate results and receive tasks
· Assist with root cause analysis
· Assist Manufacturing Engineers with ensuring equipment and processes meet production capacity targets and outputs

· Experience with SMT equipment
· AS in a technical topic or equivalent progress towards a BS
· 5+ years pertinent experience
· Proficiency creating process documentation
· Experience in a factory organization
· Experience with mechanical-electrical/mechatronic systems
· Knowledgeable about production quality metrics
· Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
· Able to converse technically with engineers
· Exemplary written communication and technical report writing skills
· Experience with manual machining and other fabrication processes
· Well organized with meticulous attention to detail
· Mastery of Word and Excel
· Able to problem solve and work with minimal supervision toward a stated goal
PREFERRED
· Trained in operating a fork lift
· IPC 610 trained
· JEDEC J-STD-001 trained
· Extra IPC standards knowledge is a plus
· Familiar with ESD / MSL requirements for components and PCB/PCBAs
· Familiar with 5S / Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma practices
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $48.00 per hour
