The Opportunity
Our small Motor Shop team of 13 (and counting) works closely together each day. As service requests come in, we review requirements then delegate each job stage – some service requests take a few hours, some take weeks. You will be part of a team of four Shop Mechanic Helpers (Junior Technicians) primarily focused on prep and finish work. You will be well trained on our equipment, tools, and procedures to ensure work is performed safely and meets our quality standards.
Your day-to-day may include:
● Cleaning/removing chemicals (steam cleaning, convection bake oven, VPI system, blasting)
● Using basic hand tooling (taps and dies)
● Taking measurements (ID & OD micrometers and vernier callipers, etc)
● Static electrical testing (baker tester, megger, DLRO, multimeters, core loss)
● Spraying/applying insulation during finishing
● Rigging and transporting equipment and supplies (forklifts, overhead cranes, dollies)
● Cleaning work areas
● Driving company vehicles
● General assistance as requested
Our Motor Shop career paths include advanced roles as Technicians, Mechanics, Winders, Machinists, Leads & Supervisors. There is also potential to move into similar roles within our Field Services division. We have skilled tradesmen and administrative teams who are motivated to train and mentor you.
Shift: Days, 7:30-4:00pm
Overtime: Anticipate weekly requirements, including occasional weekends
Reports To: Shop Supervisor
Pay Rate: $19 per hour starting rates depending on experience
Location: Magna, UT (Main Street)
Travel: Periodic day-trips to local client on-sites will be required. Must also have ability to travel out of state for occasional overnight client on-sites . Expenses are covered through company bookings and per diems (we don’t expect you to be out of pocket for travel).
Tools: company provided with option to use own if preferred (reimbursed if damaged).
Experience & Skills
Both junior and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply. Your initial pay rate will be based on your relevant experience and demonstrated capabilities. We will train candidates who want to get their hands dirty and work as a team.
Required:
● Mechanical aptitude and basic motor knowledge (work, academic, or play)
● Knowledge of basic hand and power tools
● Ability to read & write in English and perform basic math
● Knows how to prioritize, multi-task, and find efficiencies while keeping details in check
● Willingness and ability to quickly learn and comply with procedures – safety & quality have to be #1
Desired:
● Familiarity with industrial work environments
● Experience with basic machine functions (milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, molding, bench operations)
● Knowledge of generators is huge plus
Physical / Environmental Requirements
● Able to work in adverse conditions (indoor/outdoor)
● Able to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and occasionally up to 50 lbs
● Able to continuously perform basic physical movements such as: bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, reaching, grabbing
Other Requirements

● Drug Screening (pre-hire, pre-client onsite visits, reasonable suspicion, post-accident/incident)
● DOT Certification (Valid DL required (not CDL); we will handle your certification in-house)
● Criminal & Background Screening (criminal record will not necessarily prevent your eligibility for hire)
● COVID Vaccination (not blanket requirement, but may be required for client site work)
