Job Title: Shipping Clerk

Reports To: Shipping Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Responsible for performing all phases of shipping as well as maintaining related records and files by performing the following duties. Shipping experience would be an asset, but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Prepares deliveries to include obtaining merchandise from inventory, lifting and carrying merchandise, and packaging merchandise securely to avoid damage.*

2. Inspects all product prior to shipment for defects which include: scarring, stretching, loose grain, and holes.*

3. Prepares shipments to include boxing materials, labeling with appropriate shipping information, and completing appropriate paperwork.*

4. Maintains accurate records of shipments and/or received items.*

5. Reports shipping details to the appropriate department on a regular and timely basis.*

6. Communicates delivery problems to customer service representative and management promptly.*

7. Transports material within shipping/receiving department using a hand truck, cart, and forklift truck.*

8. Stores material properly in inventory according to part numbers and other pertinent information in identified locations.*

9. Maintains warehouse and shipping area in a safe and orderly manner.*

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP, and FedEx/UPS shipping software.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
