Under moderate supervision, operates shears, punch press, notchers, and bending equipment to cut and shape sheet metal, and does other work as required.

$18 - $23 hourly

• Moves and prepares sheet metal for work.
• Measures surface to determine the proper length, width, thickness, and coverage required for the job.
• Operates sheers to cut doors, sides, roofs, and small parts.
• Operates punch press to measure and cut square, circular, and other shaped holes.
• May operate manual and computerized press brakes to bend corners in sheet metal and back gauges, including making horizontal and vertical adjustments.
• May operate notcher to make open or closed cuts for doors, sides, roofs, and small parts.
• May operate grinders and cutting torches.
• Fabricates glastic barriers using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Moves material into proper position cleans and maintains work area.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and tools
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
• Experience in working with machineries such as press brakes and shears
• Ability to cut parts, punch, and bend with press brakes as needed
