Eaton’s Mission Systems division is currently seeking a Senior Quality Engineer - Hybrid. This position is located in the growing Quad Cities, specifically in Davenport, IA. Eaton's Mission Systems is a Top 20 major employer in the Quad Cities.


The expected annual salary range for this role is $77249.97 - $113299.96 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What you’ll do:

  • Review purchases orders, contracts, and statements of work (SOW) for applicability and acceptance.
  • Interface with all CMS engineering disciplines and with customers and suppliers on quality related issues.
  • Provide technical input on quality and contractual issues to internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Serve as Quality Representative on configuration control board (CCB) as necessary
  • Serve as a Quality Representative chair for material review board (MRB) and/or inspection review team
  • Serve as Quality Representative on Integrated Product Teams.
  • Serve as Quality Representative on corrective action teams.
  • Design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.
  • Analyze production and service limitations and standards and recommend revisions of specifications when indicated. - Review design concepts and technical documentation.
  • Formulate or assist in the preparation, review, and approval (if applicable) of quality documents such as plans, policies, procedures, and reports.
  • Participate in and/or perform various audit along with compiling corresponding reports when required.
  • Assist with the implementation of quality processes, procedures, work instructions, standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct training on quality assurance concepts, tools and software.
  • Manage customer and internal communications in a timely and professional manner, ensuring they are handled as required.
  • Ensure lessons learned are applied to other programs and ensure processes are updated accordingly.
  • Provide support relative to the collection and analysis of quality data.
  • Mentor IPT team members on requirements as needed.
  • Ensures both customer and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Support the adherence of business management system (BMS) processes by all functions
  • Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements to ensure compliance with the customer's expectations.
  • Perform Root Cause Corrective Action utilizing disciplined methodologies such as 8D to ensure effectiveness.
  • Perform risk analyses and implement associated mitigations.
  • Review and approve work instructions.
  • Review all customer/program deliverables/activities and verify for their completeness.
  • Participate in monthly/periodic reviews and present the quality status up to and including senior leadership as required
  • Perform all operations according to prescribed safety and environmental principles.
  • All other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of Quality Assurance (QA) experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent with minimum of 5 years of Quality Assurance (QA) experience or CQE Certification and minimum of 3 years of Quality Assurance (QA) experience.
  • 3 years of experience with AS9100/ISO9001 (aerospace), MIL-STD, ISO13485 (medical), or TS16949 (automotive).
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. “Green Card Holder”), Political Asylee or Refugee.
  • No relocation will be offered for this position. Only candidates who reside within 70 miles of the Davenport, IA facility will be considered for this position. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Field (ie. Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering)
  • Contract Review Experience
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Auditing Experience
  • 5+ years of Engineering experience
  • 2+ years of experience with AS9145 - 3+ years’ experience with Root Cause Analysis Tools, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Lifecycle Management (LCM) experience.
  • 2+ years’ Experience with Quality Management System (QMS) Auditing.
  • 3+ years’ experience in reading and interpreting technical documents, including prints (GD&T), drawings, and engineering orders.
  • Project/Program Management experience
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) experience is highly desired, including associated tools such as characteristics matrices, process flow diagrams, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Highly skilled user of Microsoft office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio
  • Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 standard - An understanding of budgets and the estimating process
  • Quality assurance related experience in a design and manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, Government/Military contracts, and Aerospace industry experience.
  • Military aviation or aircraft modification experience.
  • FAA experience.
  • National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (Nadcap) experience.
