PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Take ownership for the timely and accurate auditing of all payroll data for hourly and exempt employees on both weekly and bi-weekly pay cycles using UKG Pro. This is to include, but is not limited to, hours worked, tax information, direct deposit information, department allocations, pay adjustments, new hires, and terminations.
- Administer wage garnishments, and make certain deductions are being taken in accordance with jurisdictional requirements.
- Review and research all payroll exceptions and resolve issues before finalizing payroll.
- Ensure accurate reporting and tax withholding on employee wages, benefits, etc.
- Calculate and prepare special paychecks for terminations, new hires, etc. as needed.
- Primary backup for processing of Exempt Management semi-monthly payroll.
- Process expense reimbursements from Workday to UltiPro. Work with Shared Services to reconcile any discrepancies.
- Preparation of detailed journal entries for posting to General Ledger.
- Respond to employment verification and unemployment insurance claim inquiries.
- Prepare quarterly multiple work site returns.
- Assists with quarter-end and year-end audits, adjustments, and reporting.
- Assists with withholding and unemployment insurance tax registrations for new jurisdictions.
- Assists with tracking and monitoring the resolution of employment tax notices.
- Subject matter expert for UKG Pro’s Time & Attendance system (UTA) and setup and maintenance of all PTO Plans including Union. Demonstrates expertise in troubleshooting of online timekeeping system with the ability to interpret and understand complex calculations of pay policies. Primary contact for employee assistance with time sheet errors and training, fielding questions regarding pay.
- Provides confidential information to employees, HR Business Partners and internal/ external audit utilizing Business Intelligence tools in UltiPro.
- Maintain and process positive pay, H.S.A. and 401k interfaces to and from UKG Pro.
- Reviews, tracks, and reconciles invoices from payroll service provider to insure proper charges.
- Follows‐up with employee and outside party requests in a timely manner and addresses errors and complaints in a proactive manner.
- Document payroll processes and procedures with the ability to suggest best practices and manage the implementation of process improvements.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Management preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years of experience processing multi-state payrolls with varying degrees of complexity and multiple payroll frequencies.
MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal and written skills are essential in this position.
- Analytical ability is required in support of regulatory compliance, policy support and systems maintenance and development activities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, with little supervision.
- Must be customer-focused and results-driven with an emphasis on quality, detail, and accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and process improvement skills.
- Requires a professional demeanor and the discretion to know sensitive details and keep them confidential.
- Strong background in Accounting.
- Extensive knowledge of ERP, HRIS and Time & Attendance systems. Workday, UKG Pro and UTA preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
