The Opportunity:

Your Role At Sephora

Reporting to Senior Counsel, Legal Affairs, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including assisting with the management of the company’s claims and employment/general litigation, reviewing/analyzing documents, drafting legal documents, performing legal research, and overseeing corporate governance responsibilities. In addition, you will:

  • Provide litigation support, including taking an active role in developing initial answers to interrogatories, requests for admissions, document requests, and responding to subpoenas that are served upon the company
  • Collaborate with relevant business partners to identify, collect, analyze, redact, and bate stamp documents in order to evaluate viable objections and timely respond to requests for information in accordance with strict deadlines
  • Conduct initial legal analysis/assessment of employment demand letters and administrative charges/complaints
  • Develop a litigation database to track and maintain matters, prepare necessary reporting, and ensure timely processing of outside counsel and vendor invoice payments
  • Be responsible for implementing internal processes that result in improvements and efficiencies to Sephora’s litigation management and outside counsel management
  • Implement and manage litigation holds
  • Conduct fact-gathering investigations (including conducting interviews of internal and external witnesses)
  • Engage and manage projects and initiatives in concert with external counsel
  • Partner with General Counsel to manage various corporate reporting and governance obligations
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional associations to keep abreast of the latest developments in applicable law and other related areas

  • Assist with overflow projects and responsibilities in the Legal Department as needed


We’re Excited About You If You Have

  • 7+ years of paralegal experience with an in-house legal department and/or law firm
  • Experience providing legal support at a retail or consumer goods company a plus
  • Strong litigation support and e-discovery experience
  • Working knowledge and experience based on employment law required.
  • Experience in data privacy a plus
  • Undergraduate college degree or Paralegal Certification
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication, negotiating, drafting, and problem-solving skills
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Sound judgment with the ability to balance legal risk and business impact in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well with a small, tightly-knit team, and the range to deal effectively with everyone from senior management to operations and store personnel
  • Ability and desire to seek responsibility, work autonomously and exercise independent judgment in performing the job. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously with strong follow up
  • Retail and consumer products experience preferred. Beauty industry experience a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel

The target annual base salary range for this position is $133,000.00 - $148,000.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
